About Us
Urban Dance Factory is an established dance school in the SE London & Kent area who offer fun & funky dance classes for all children from ages 4 to 17. Dancing is a fun activity that virtually all children enjoy and in addition to helping children to keep fit, dancing can also build confidence, improve co-ordination and help develop personal skills - as well offering the opportunity to learn a new skill and make new friends. At Urban Dance Factory we are committed to sharing our passion and love of dance by making sure our classes are all of the above and more! The routines we teach are a mix of dance styles with steps and movements taken from from Jazz, Freestyle & Disco dance as well as some Latin and Ballroom! We also incorporate moves that are included in the National Curriculum - Key Stages 1, 2 & 3. Our dances are mostly choreographed to current chart music and some of our routines, especially for the older classes, are also Street based - but we're not into Body Poppin', Lockin' or Break Dance! However, UDF classes aren't just about routines - each class starts with a warm up, followed by some easy stretching movements before we do our Jazz dance based exercises - which are fantastic for improving balance, poise and body awareness! We teach on a 'rolling' basis - which means that over a term (normally 12 weeks) dancers will be taught between two and four new routines - depending on age and ability. The highlight of our year is our special DANCE SHOW held every summer, where our students perform in front of family and friends and are rewarded and recognised for all their hard work at classes. We like to do Dance displays at school fetes and at local Festivals and we also hold an annual Examination session with the IDTA - whose syllabus we follow - in March. Most of our students come along once a week to enjoy learning a new skill as well as having fun and getting fit!
