About Us
URBAN DANCE FACTORY is now established as one of the leading dance schools in the SE London & Kent area - offering fun & funky dance classes for all children from ages 4 to 17 as well as dance classes for adults. Dancing is a fun activity that most people enjoy doing - but did you know that dancing can be so much more than just that? As well as helping to keep you fit, dancing can help build confidence, improve co-ordination and develop personal skills - while at the same time offering the opportunity to learn a new skill and make new friends. At Urban Dance Factory we are committed to sharing our passion and love of dance by making sure our classes are all the above and more! We are purely focussed on teaching dance - not singing or drama - so all our pupils get the opportunity to learn different dance styles, with routines that are exciting and varied - covering Jazz, Freestyle & Disco as well as Lyrical dance. Some of our routines, especially for the older classes, are also Street based - but we're not into Body Poppin', Lockin' or Break Dance! We use a wide variety of music - everything from current pop to West End show tunes and our routines are also designed to complement any dancing the children may do at school by incorporating moves that are included in the National Curriculum - Key Stages 1, 2 & 3. However, UDF classes aren't just about routines - each class starts with a warm up, followed by some easy stretching movements before we do our Jazz dance based exercises - which are fantastic for improving balance, poise and body awareness! We teach on a 'rolling' basis - which means that over a term (normally 12 weeks) dancers will be taught between two and four new routines - depending on age and ability. Each term we work towards a goal - in the Winter it's Exams which are held in the Spring (more info on the EXAMS page) and our Summer term is one of our most exciting as we also teach Dance Performance skills in the lead up to our DANCE SHOW held every summer, where our students perform in front of family and friends and are rewarded and recognised for all their hard work at classes. Click on our SHOW page for more details. We also like to do Dance displays at school fetes and at local Festivals. Most of our students come along once a week to enjoy learning to dance as well as having fun, getting fit and spending time with their dancing friends!
